Before www.hearteyes.com, there was www.twinmomlifeunfiltered.com. Twin Mom Life Unfiltered was a therapeutic journaling experience for me for several years (2018- 2020) while I was in the throes of postpartum anxiety and depression. If you're interested in those old journal entries. you can find them here! Just be warned that there are some dark, heavy, and raw posts there!
When the twins were 2 years old, I was in a slightly better place mentally and physically. We moved out of state (for the second time in 3 years), got settled in our new home, and shortly after, the pandemic hit. We had just gotten into a new rhythm having found a preschool, I was getting ready to go back to work, and everything shut down.
The twins were back home with me 24/7, and I was NOT in a good mental state to handle it. I felt like all the anxiety and depression that I had worked through the previous years, all came rushing back. That summer, my mom retired as a RN, and came to stay with us for several months which totally saved our sanity. It was also during that time when I started picking up Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects again after 3 years of not building anything.
Throughout my entire life, I've always enjoyed doing hands-on projects, from cross-stitching to making fun crafts, from painting walls to flipping furniture. When I picked up DIY again in 2020, my friends encouraged me to start an Instagram account to share my projects. (You can also view a gallery of my projects here!) Without exaggerating one bit, this completely changed my life and my experience of motherhood. (You can read about that experience here!)
While having my DIY account on Instagram came with a lot of positive events and friendships, it also caused me to realize that Instagram is not where I want to spend the majority of my time. (I owe you a blogpost here!) The more time I spend on Instagram as a content creator, the more I've been noticing that I miss blogging, especially since reflecting, processing, and writing is more my pace of life.
This blog is a place for me to write about not only DIY, but also personal life experiences, gleanings from books I've recently read, podcasts I've been impressed with, and reflective thoughts that need a home outside my heart. Here at HeartEyes, I am opening my heart and eyes to yet another new chapter of my life, and my hope is that by joining me here, your heart and eyes would be opened to a more thoughtful and intentional life.
Thank you for being a part of the HeartEyes family!
